Chelsea Flower Show Update
Well, here we are the end of May, the sun is shining and once again, after weeks of preparation, it's time to drive in convoy up to Chelsea and set up our display for the Chelsea Flower Show.

The set up days and show week started hot and sunny with a stiflingly hot Monday preview day followed by a perfect champagne and canapés, balmy Gala Evening. Tuesday saw a welcome drop in temperature but with still largely clear blue skies. Effectively, perfect weather for show visitors.

Here on the Black Forge stand we experienced an enjoyable, non stop string and occasional throng of visitors and were pleased to meet many new and old customers alike to discuss their requirements or simply have a chat about our work.

Here I am discussing another order with a potential customer.

It is always great to see our recent and old timer barbecue customers and to catch up with their news and feedback regarding their barbecues.

Similarly, it's always appreciated when a sign or weathervane customer makes the effort to pop in and say hello and let us know how their commission looks in situ.

Attached are some photos taken during the week showing us all hard at work (chatting!) and with pictures of a couple of our star attractions for this year's show.

Namely 'Wanda' our much commented on stainless steel fish, kindly lent to us by its new owners for the occasion, which in her three dimensional, semi skeletal frame is a nice example of how weathervanes don't always have to be the more traditional two dimensional, black silhouette.

Our new tree gate was also very popular and it shows how a pedestrian side entrance gate, with a little imagination can also be an eye catching tromp l'oeil style feature leading the eye through the design into the next area of garden.

The option of personalisation here also creates a record of children, pets or favourite wild animals included at the base of, or even in the tree.
Our first year of our using a big screen for presentations of slide shows showing commissions undertaken and videos of us actually at work in the forge was also surprisingly (to us) enlightening to those visitors who automatically assumed that we were just one of the many importers of pre-manufactured goods.

As opposed to the reality of my team and myself getting on down to the dirty, hands on business of actually, cutting, welding, manufacturing and forging all our orders down at our rural forge in South East Kent.

Rod and Sue (rare picture as Sue normally stays in the office and keeps me organised).
To all those who visited us, a big ‘THANK YOU', - you made the week most enjoyable and if there's anything we can do for you, then we look forward to hearing from you again soon.
