Lead-Times

All of our work is handmade to order so there is a little wait while we make your order for you. Workload levels during a given year varies which means our lead-times can also vary.

We typically ensure that all weathervane orders are delivered within 6 weeks of order. For more information including our current lead-time for this weathervane, or to request a completion date to meet a special occasion please contact us.

Returns

Returns would need to requested be within 28 days of original delivery and the product would need to be still be in its delivered state (I.e. has not been installed, fitted and then removed). Subject to our terms and conditions.

How do your weathervanes work?

All our weathervanes are uniquely balanced to smoothly rotate about our Black Forge Art™ weatherproofed and hardened stainless steel pin & ball bearing mechanism. This will ensure your commission continues to work and withstand the test of time.

Your chosen design and arrow will sleeve onto the hardened pin and ball bearing.

Powered by the breeze, no batteries required.

What does a weathervane do?

Weathervanes were instruments originally created as a wind direction indicator to tell us where the where the wind is coming from. In its simplest of forms, these were arrows with a fletched (or also known as a pennant) end.

Weathervanes can also feature designs atop the arrow, with a Cockerel (or Rooster) being one of the first and most traditional designs. Many modern day weathervanes are designed as aesthetic constructions and do not work as a wind direction indicator. All Black Forge Art weathervanes not only look great but will also work and tell you where the wind is coming from.

What Steel Are Your Weathervanes Made From?

We use 304 grade Stainless Steel for the entire weathervane assembly (unless clearly stated otherwise in the product description). – All welding is completed using 316 grade stainless steel.

Entirely Stainless Steel Weathervanes will be listed as part of our ‘Stainless Steel Collection’ and come with a 15 year guarantee. These weathervanes are rust-proof and do not need galvanising or protective coating.
